On Friday, February 01,Judge Otho Eyster in the Knox County Court of Common Pleas sentenced one woman and five men for various felony crimes according to Knox County Prosecutor John Thatcher.

Joseph S. Campos, 55, Fredericktown, was convicted of driving under the influence of alcohol and sentenced to two years in prison. Judge Eyster also suspended the defendant’s driver’s license for three years and ordered Campos to pay an $800.00 fine. Thatcher said on October 14, 2007, at 1:41 a.m., Trooper Paul Shore of the Ohio State Highway Patrol stopped Campos for speeding on U.S. Route 36. Campos failed all field sobriety tests and the concentration of alcohol in Campos’ breath was .203%. According to the indictment filed in the case, Campos was previously convicted of felony drunk driving in October 2003.

Daniel R. Shannon, 20, Mount Vernon, was convicted of burglary and safecracking for breaking into a North Gay Street residence and forcing entry into a safe, on January 9, 2008. Shannon was sentenced to a two year prison term and ordered to pay restitution to the homeowner. Detective Craig Feeney and Patrolman Scott McKnight, Mount Vernon Police Department, investigated the case.

Jeremiah Shon O’Neil, 21, Mount Vernon, was convicted of theft for stealing several items of jewelry from a Kenyon Road residence, on August 24, 2007. O’Neil was sentenced to an 11 month prison term. Deputies David Light and Dan Selby, Knox County Sheriff’s Office, investigated the case.

Richard A. Thomas, 33, Fredericktown, was convicted of theft for stealing a grade laser and four 20 foot lengths of culvert pipe from a construction site in Fredericktown, on July 26, 2007. Thomas was sentenced to a nine month prison term and ordered to pay $1,827.50 in restitution to the victim. Lieutenant Jay Sheffer of the Fredericktown Police Department investigated the case.

Betty Tice, 50, and Bryan Tice, 36, Utica, were convicted of aggravated trafficking in drugs for selling Oxycontin tablets to a confidential informant working for the Mount Vernon Police Department, on April 5, 2007. The defendants will serve three year terms of community control supervision. The terms of supervision include mandatory drug and alcohol assessments and monitoring. Judge Eyster also suspended the driver’s license of each defendant for six months. Thatcher said the Court will impose a 15 month prison sentence if either defendant violates any condition of their community control supervision. Detective Sergeant Jeffrey D. Jacobs, Detective Corporal Matt Dailey and Detective Craig Feeney, MVPD, investigated the cases.
